FIABCI World Congress to Be Held

in Honor of

Felipe Correa

Felipe applied his success in business to make a difference within FIABCI.  His commitment, support, ongoing efforts and groundbreaking contributions to FIABCI helped position our Federation as a global force in the industry among young professionals and for that reason, the FIABCI World Congress will be held this year in his honor.

It is with great sadness that FIABCI announces the passing of FIABCI Young Member and Leader Felipe Correa this past week.  Felipe leaves behind a legacy as an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated young leader in the international real estate community.  He was a respected member of FIABCI and a friend to all he met.

Although he was only 32 years old, Felipe was already a dynamic business leader and impacting the global real estate industry.  His short career had been filled with an abundance of success and and accomplishments.  He fulfilled the role of Finance Director at Luis F. Correa & Asociados in Bogotá, Colombia where he participated as part of a six-person team overseeing development of Capital Towers, a three-tower hotel and office project, performed financial analysis for prospective real estate projects and supervised the marketing, appraisals, rentals and sales departments.  In addition, he also served as a Bond Broker at Financial Northeastern Securities and provided high-grade fixed income investment products and support to institutional investors, developed new client relationships and brokered $18.2 million in transactions during the first half of 2008.

His FIABCI “career” also began at an early age as he served as an intern at the FIABCI Secretariat in Paris in 2004.

His passion for FIABCI and involvement in the global real estate community continued to grow as he fulfilled many FIABCI leadership roles including President of the FIABCI Young Members Committee and President of the FIABCI-Colombia Chapter.  He organized and hosted the FIABCI Young Members Congress in 2008 and also organized and hosted the FIABCI Congress of the Americas in Cartagena.  During the Young Members Congress in Cartagena, he was a key speaker discussing “The Subprime Crisis and its Effect in Latin America.”  Felipe received his MBA from Columbia Business School with a concentration in Real Estate and Finance and received his Bachelor of Science Magna Cum Laude from Boston University with a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance.   Felipe is the son of FIABCI Past World President Luis Fernando Correa Bahamon.

FIABCI cherishes Felipe’s memory and extends its heartfelt sympathy, condolences and peace to the Correa family, Felipe’s wife, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
